America 2012: Obama or George Romney Bush & Companies?

As we get closer to November 6th, the American elections are gathering momentum.

It might not be as exciting as it was in 2008 but the significance of having Obama as president for a second term of office has not reduced.

The choice between President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney seems to be a more low-key title fight compared to the previous elections.

In 2008, even the Democratic party primaries were like a fight of the titans and for one good reason:
Hillary.

In boxing terms, it was like having a Mike Tyson fight, who in this case was Hillary Clinton, where the expectations had been that she would floor whichever underdog accepted to be publicly humiliated as was the norm for Tyson's earlier opponents.

The rest is history made by the American people.

But the US elections 2008 were not only for the Americans. Though they were the only ones allowed to vote, the concern and interest were worldwide.

Of course Americans will talk about their economy, jobs, health care and the issues closer to home.

But for the rest of the world, it was a clear desire to shift from the prevailing atmosphere of war, terror, lies and plunder that characterized the administration that was in place at the time.

It was as if the whole world was saying " No more Bush".

The climate of war mongering had reached unbelievable proportions.

The actions that Bush & Companies were ready to engage in order to enforce their political and business agendas worldwide was arrogant, despicable and even nauseating to say the least.

It was as if none of the democratic principles professed to the world by America counted anymore, nor did public opinion when it came to the climate of war that had been exported all around the world through the famous phrase "You are with us, or against us" said by George Bush in 2001.

Today, times have changed and the tensions that prevailed back then have diminished.

However as we get into the next elections, I can't help but worry about what other plans could be cooking by the same group.

We know that Obama's advent disrupted a trend and I am sure that those who stood to benefit from the kind of administration that Bush represented, are ready to do anything in their power to make a come back.

They have the money and the connections and will continue to try and impose their agenda once again on the rest of the world.

Public opinion has forgotten the asphyxiating environment that the world was in prior to Obama.

Freedom and liberties were curtailed unilaterally by the White House or through coercion under the guise of fighting the hidden enemy whose capabilities were exaggerated.

The submission of the citizen was orchestrated using the same terror tactics of instilling fear on the masses who would then see their rights taken by the state under the pretext of putting them to good use in protecting lives and property.

The threat of terror was being pounded daily into the minds of every citizen through any available media so as to accomplish Bush's total acquisition of power.

That is why it felt like a huge gasp of fresh air around the world when Obama won the elections.

Can anybody remember the mood of peace and hope that swept the world in the days leading to his inauguration?

Today we might be tempted to say that Obama hasn't achieved many of his promises but just his taking over was a huge change of direction throughout the world.

Even being awarded the Nobel Peace prize before he had time to implement his policies was a clear recognition that what he stood for alone had changed the world.

But many are not able to see that and his enemies are trying to make sure that the dark memories of Bush's time are forgotten.

I would like to advise the Obama/Biden 2012 campaign team simply to remind the world how eery things were before Obama took over office because simply put, nobody wants another Bush era.

And it might not be that obvious, but Mitt Romney is the only way Bush & Companies can get back to Washington.

The rest of the world can only watch as America once again decides our fate.

So because our fate is in their hands, maybe we have an unwritten duty to ensure that America makes the right choice.
